Magnetic Snaps

"Magnetic Snaps removes the little frictions of layout work. Instead of zooming in and fine-tuning positions, you just move a space and it aligns itself."
– Aishwarya Arun, Product Specialist
What’s New
Moving spaces just got a lot smarter. The new Magnetic Snaps automatically align spaces to nearby edges or corners as you move them.
When you drag a space from a vertex, edge, or face, it will “snap” into perfect alignment with the closest geometry. This keeps layouts precise and saves time in early space planning.
How It Works
- Applies to Spaces only: Magnetic Snaps will not work on furniture, walls, or other object types.
- Automatic edge and corner alignment:
- While moving a space in 2D, nearby geometry is detected and the space will lock to it.
- In 3D, snapping works when moving from a vertex, but won’t align to top faces, ideal for stacking spaces between stories.
- Clear visual feedback: The edge or face you’re snapping to is highlighted, so you always know what you’re aligning with.
- Control the behavior: A Magnetic Snaps toggle is available in Project Settings. It’s ON by default, but you can switch it off anytime.
- Supported actions:
- Works with both Select to Move and Move operations.
- Does not apply to Copy or Rotate.
