Reference lines

What's in this post?

Precision matters, especially when you’re aligning complex geometry across storeys or need to maintain design intent while iterating. With Reference Lines, you can now draw guide lines that stay visible, snappable, and customizable across your entire model. It’s a small tool with big impact for accuracy and workflow clarity.

What’s New

Reference Lines

Reference Lines are now available in both 2D and 3D. Whether you're sketching out initial ideas or refining detailed BIM models, they act as persistent visual guides that help you stay aligned and organized.

How It Works

  • Draw reference lines from the Object Type panel — they can follow lines, arcs, circles, or rectangles.
  • Customize your lines:
    • Color: HEX or color picker
    • Thickness: 12 annotative sizes
    • Line Type: Solid, Dashed, Dash Dot
  • Place by clicking or typing exact distances/angles.
  • Edit with full control: move, copy, rotate, isolate, delete, or hide.

Why It’s Useful

  • Persistent across storeys: Lines drawn on one floor remain visible throughout.
  • Snap support: Draw, move, copy, rotate objects with snap-to-line and snap-to-intersection.
  • Work cleanly in 2D or 3D, aligning your geometry with clarity and intent.
  • Perfect for massing studies, façade alignment, core layouts, and more.
